We welcome Helen Brand who will be speaking at all Masses this weekend (16th/17th September) in the Parish of Our Lady & St Joseph’s about the Embrace Project.
 
The Embrace Project is a 2-year project undertaken by Catholic Care to respond to the loneliness and isolation of vulnerable older people, including those with dementia and their carers.
 
It is a national project overseen by CSAN (Caritas Social Action Network).
 
Some of the events that are currently available in our Parish are:
 
Silsden: 1st Tuesdays Friendship Club at Mount Carmel church – every month at 1.30 pm on the 1st Tuesday – next session is on October 3rd with a speaker from University of Leeds on the ‘Writing Back’ pen-pals scheme. Tea/coffee, cakes and raffle £1 admission.
 
 
Keighley: KCC Friendship Club at Keighley Catholic Centre on 4th Tuesday of the month. The first one is being held on September 26th at 1.30 pm. Everyone is welcome.
 
Keighley: 2nd Tuesday Musical Afternoon Tea at Keighley Catholic Centre. Next one is on 10th October with music by Tony Loftus. Everyone is welcome.
 
Haworth: OLL Friendship Club at The Presbytery every 3rd Thursday of the month after Benediction at 2.30 pm. Coffee and cakes will be served. Everyone is welcome.
 
Skipton: St Stephen’s & Friends – older men’s breakfast meeting – every Friday at 11 am at The Devonshire Pub, Newmarket St. It is open to Catholics/non-Catholics – food and fellowship (breakfast £3.50 tea & coffees are free). Everyone is welcome!
 
Making History Project: We are just initiating this idea of recording oral histories from the older people in the parish, to include Media Studies pupils from Holy Family School as the recorders. If you are interested in being a part of this project then please contact:
