This is a copy of the newsletter that was handed out at Mass this weekend. As the image is small, here is the transcript:

“Here is our half yearly newsletter asking for your help again so that we can continue our work with the elderly and sick of the Parish. We thank Fr Dennis Cassidy for allowing us to have this collection.

We visit about 20 people in their own homes and we visit Herncliffe, Merlin Court, Staveley Court, Currergate, Beanlands and The Gables Nursing homes. We also visit Airedale Hospital when any of our parishioners are admitted.

We continue to take 8/10 people to Drop Farm for lunch whenever money and transport are available. The Christmas Lunch this year will be on Sunday, 3rd December 2017. We hope to be able to take 28/30 people.

We have continued to help the Asylum Seekers from Burundi. They have passed all their exams now and the little boy is settle in St Anne’s school so they are hoping that their application for asylum will soon be accepted. The Good Shepherd Centre are also helping them.

During the year we held raffles to help two little girls to go to the SVP Summer camp. We are most grateful to you all for your support. They said it was “FAB”!!

One of our members helps regularly at the Sue Ryder shop in Keighley, while another is on a rota for collecting food from Sainsburys for the Salvation Army. We thank you also for the donations of food, which we take to the Salvation Army for their food parcels. The number of food parcels they give out is rising weekly.

Three of our members also help at Merlin Court with various things.

We had a very successful Mass for the sick in the school hall in July. Members of Haworth SVP brought some of their sick parishioners down and we had a very nice afternoon tea with them.

We continue to support our twinned parish in the Sudan and we pay Tithes to the SVP Head Office on a quarterly basis.

During the last year a number of parishioners have died including Mary McGlinchy, Eric Wimblett, Margaret Courtney, Agnes Loftus, Shirley Tarpy, Marjorie Reynard, Ellen O’Keefe, Jennie Lee, Veronica Egan, Maureen Calvert, Kathleen Mace, Sr Maria, Joan Sherlock and Sheila Ford. Sympathy cards and Mass cards have been sent to their families.

Finally, may I ask you to give generously at the collection next weekend, October 21st/22nd at St Joseph’s Church.

Thank you.
